Without fail, if the truck sits overnight in and its colder than 40°F, the remote start is guaranteed to fail. If the truck has recently been driven it will work for a few hours.
When it fails, the lights blink ONCE, the doors lock, and nothing else happens. What's supposed to happen is when you click the remote start, the lights are supposed to blink TWICE, the doors lock, and the truck starts up.
This has happened ever since I bought the truck (5 years ago).
I've had it in for diagnosis, and they can never duplicate the issue. I've had the battery replaced, thinking it might be a weak battery and am at a loss as to what else it could be.
So for now, I can guarantee that when I need the remote start the most, it will fail EVERY time!
Update from Feb 14, 2026: Without fail, if my truck sits overnight and the temperature drops below 40°F, the remote start is guaranteed to fail. If the truck has been driven recently, it works fine for a few hours, but remote start cannot handle a cold soak of only a few hours.
When it fails, the lights blink once, the doors lock, and nothing else happens.. no error codes, no messages, no indication what’s failing. Under normal operation, the lights should blink twice, the doors lock, and the engine fires up.
This has been an issue since the day I bought the truck five years ago. I’ve taken it in for diagnostics multiple times, but the technicians can never "duplicate the issue" in a warm shop. I’ve even replaced the battery, thinking it might be a voltage issue, but I am at a complete loss as to what else it could be.
It is incredibly frustrating that when I need it the most, I can guarantee it will fail EVERY TIME!
