Third time this has happened. Took car to service dept. so they could hear the high pitched sound and see that tailgate didn't open. They're going to order a new module & replace it.
Update from Jan 22, 2020: Module was replaced under warranty 11/7/2019. Use of interior button to open it is still sporadic; not very reliable.
