The 2019 Cross trek is a great car except for this recurring issue of the USB connection constantly bugging out. Dealer just wants to do a "software update" which does nothing to help. Give me a break, this car automatically updates the software every time I pull into my garage and get WiFi access. So the head unit never remembers my address book and contacts thru Android Auto and usually bugs out on Google maps because of the USB connection failure always occurring . I have tried better USB cables , nothing helps. Also the head unit sometimes just goes completely black and does nothing.

CarPlay would go out in less than 30 minutes on my 2019 Crosstrek and problem was discovered within a week of buying. Dealer changed radio after waiting 2 months for the part, but did not fix problem. Blamed it on my iPhone and cable, drove a different Crosstrek at my suggestion and it worked fine with my phone & cable.

After months of various attempts to fix it, service found out that Subaru had issued a service bulletin 15-211-17r that noted the problem was caused by the USB connector. But Service personnel said that USB had been changed at factory.

Finally after 4 months of trips back & forth to Portland & waiting in service area, the USB was changed and that fixed the problem. Sooooo either the factory put in a defective replacement USB or it was never changed. Spent > 6 hours waiting at dealership and numerous trips to dealership while service personnel tried to fix problem. I had to spend that time and effort due to a defective product sent to the dealership by Suburau. Complained to dealership & Subaru and all they did was send me a $250 vouch.

Very dissatisified with my first and probably last Suburu. Suggestion to other Suburu buyers, make sure you run all the electronics for a few hours, if possible, before buying.
