Went to change the spark plugs, when I pulled out the spark plug boots they had a fairly significant amount of oil, had head gaskets were replaced and the problem was fixed.

Impreza Outback Sport 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,600 miles

I have heard Subarus are bad with the whole head gasket thing. Everyone I know that owns a Subaru has had to have the head gaskets replaced. I have read forums about all the complaints with the 2.5L engine and the trouble with the gaskets. Why hasn't Subaru addressed this issue? Is there a class action lawsuit going for this? I bought a Subaru based on reliability and hopes that it would last a long time. I did not expect to have to replace both Head Gaskets, a leaking rack and pinion, a cooling fan and a leaking oil pan gasket all at the same time at 85,000 miles, especially for the price of Subaru's!

Impreza

  • Automatic transmission
  • 67,000 miles

I bought a Subaru because they were supposed to be so great and reliable. 67000 miles and head gaskets leak? Repair guy said it was because I live in New England and everything expands when hot and shrinks when cool. Then wouldn't every car in New England do this. I have owned many cars here and never had this problem especially at this mileage. Not buying another Subaru!!
