While slowly turning into a parking space at a Wal-Mart parking lot my Impreza suddenly lurched forward at full throttle and impacted a parked car in the space ahead of mine. It happened so fast that I couldn't even try to apply the brakes. Later, upon doing searches on the internet I discovered that there have been many similar complaints, not only with the Impreza but also with other Subaru models.I filed a complaint with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), and was told that there have been more than 150 such complaints against Subarus and they are opening an investigation into the problem. They have given it the name "unintended acceleration". There have been at least two class action lawsuits against Subaru because of this problem.
