A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I bought this car new in March 2015. I was fine in this car until a family member had a terminal illness in September 2016 & I had to drive to see her six times in 5 weeks, and spent about 5 - 6 hours in the car each time. By the fourth time I knew something was wrong; I kept moving on the seat as I was hurting under my left thigh and in my lower back. Once the medical emergency with the family member was over, I thought that I would recover. Wrong.

Now the damage is done and it's never improved. I have coccydynia and sciatica. I've gotten medical care and it isn't helping. I've tried cushions in the car and that hasn't helped either. I've done online searches and saw that many individuals have this problem, known as "Subaru sciatica". I told Knoxville Subaru management about this and they suggested that I trade the car in for a Forrester! I was appalled that they just wanted to sell me another car, and I told them that was an unacceptable suggestion. They then told me to call the corporate office; they said maybe I could get help that way; they were just placating me.

I did call Subaru of America, and I was told that the seats shouldn't be messed with - no cushions - because that would mess up the air bags etc. in case of an accident; not once did they address the real issue or apologize for their crappy seats. Mechanically the car has been fine. Ergonomically it's been a nightmare. Another thing about the car is that the headrests need to be more adjustable. The headrests are too close and push our heads forward.

I hate that we spent nearly $30,000 and now have a vehicle that is the most uncomfortable car we've ever owned. When I purchased this car, I was looking forward to long leisurely road trips in future, but that's not going to happen. I wish I had never heard of this car and I will never buy another Subaru.
