Winter morning but not really cold, say 20F. Car is brand new less than 4000 miles on it. Went to start in the AM to go to work. Doors would not open even using the key manually. Called Subaru roadside assistance. They did arrange for a tow truck but I discovered that their coverage is very limited, poor really. So it cost me $75 extra for the tow to the nearest dealership.

Silverthorne Colorado Vista Subaru. They were courteous but immediately assumed I had done something wrong. Also were insistent that this problem could not be the car per se, had to be ice in the locks or something external.

The car sat in the lot for two hours. It was warmer and when they went out to check out the car prior to calling in the locksmith the doors opened correctly.

They had no explanation. We now know that the 2015 Subaru Outback has a faulty relay that, among other things, shorts out and shuts down various systems, including starting. I am filing a second complaint under that category.

However I will mention here that the car has also failed to start in warm weather after a short stop on a drive.

They have failed to inform owners or issue a recall. In my opinion this is highly irresponsible.
