windshield is prone to chips because research has shown the acoustic material recently added to the windshield makes it less durable as found on lie.

This is the fourth incident regarding the windshield on this 7 month old car. Again a small pebble strikes the windshield at a low rate of speed and cracks it halfway across the bottom of the windshield. So it is averaging out a cracked or chipped windshield every 4 weeks on a brand new car from Subaru and they claim there is no problem with the windshield.

One month after purchasing my brand new top of the line 2023 Subaru Outback Onyx XT edition, while driving in town using the safe distance feature, the car in front of me threw up a small pea sized pebble that hardly made a sound as it hit my windshield. Immediately the point of contact began to show spider leg cracks spreading out. I drove straight to a windshield repair facility to have it fixed before it spread any more. They told me that the biggest share of their business was repairing and replacing crappy Subaru windshields. I contacted Subaru and they denied having any knowledge of prior windshield issues and refused to offer any advice or assistance as far as replacing my windshield with a more durable windshield. They know they have a faulty product here, have had for years, and refuse to do anything to address it. My wife had the same problem with her 2016 Outback and she complained enough to the dealer that they replaced the windshield at no cost. The dealer I purchased the car from referred me to Subaru of America in Indiana and they basically told me to go screw myself. If there are any class action lawsuits regarding these crappy windshields I want to be part of it.

This is the second chip on this 2023 Subaru Outback Onyx XT windshield in 3 months of ownership. Once again traveling in town at 35 mph using the safe distance feature the car in front of me threw up a tiny pebble that barely hit my windshield and immediately began spider leg cracks from the point of contact. I immediately contacted Subaru of America and informed them that this windshield was barely 3 months old and already had cracked from mild impact of small pebbles. Again they informed me that there is nothing they can or will do about it and that I had to learn to live with their sh*tty windshield. They said that most insurances will cover replacement. I can't believe that they are allowed to continue to make these low grade windshields that could potentially be a danger to the driver if a large rock at a high speed were to hit the windshield. How can they not be accountable? Again, if there is a class action lawsuit, and there should be one, against Subaru for these cheap and sh*tty windshields I want to be part of it.
