chain connection point on tow bar The chain connection point on the towbar is 300 mm under the car from the centre of the ball and 400 off the ground. It is impossible to connect a trailer so that if it comes off the ball it will not hit the ground. I have 4 trailers and the average distance to the chain connection on the trailers is 150mm. ie 400 + 150 = 450 A connection point could have easily been welded on top of the tongue housing. I am not sure if the regulations re tow bar manufacture require a minimum distance to the chain connection point other than '--as close as practical to the ball--'. This Genuine Toyota Tow Bar clearly does not comply with this and appears unsuitable for this vehical. The dealer has not been helpful.
