The vehicle was serviced by the local Toyota dealership for a safety recall in March of 2017. We mentioned the issue with the drive shaft. The Toyota dealership informed us that the drive shaft bearing had failed. We have the original invoice with a quote of 466.00 to repair the hanger bearing. We performed the repair with a local mechanic instead.
The bearing is failing again after 3 years. I've seen several write ups on the internet stating that Toyota was performing this repair for no cost and also extending the warranty. Its hard to imagine the dealership wasn't aware of this program.
