Ok, the truck has about 70,000 miles on it, its a 2007 tacoma and I just had the 60,000 mile tune up not too long ago (by toyota dealer). The rear differential, sounds like and from what other mechanically inclined people tell me, is essentially on its way out. Toyota techs say Toyota recommends a different differential fluid for this issue (KEY: THEY KNOW ITS AN ISSUE), and the shop I go to say they've just replaced two rear differentials that week on similar models. Sounds like a recall. rear diffs can cost about 2400$ if the dealer does em.
