I had been very busy and finally l looked into the problem and confirmed problem with the spiral cable having a open circuit for the horn wire. Truck several months out of warranty but not on the miles. After researching online, I find Toyota had a recall on same part from 05 to 09, in the amount of 495,000 Tacoma trucks. I called Toyota for goodwill warranty parts only, my recommendation. Todd at Toyota said I had to take it to the dealer to confirm the problem and if it is the problem they would warranty. I called the dealer explained and made a appointment.

Before taking in the truck I removed the steering column plastic shrouding so as to expose the wire connection block on the side for easy access because I have to pay for the labor. Shortly after dropping off the truck, the dealer called me and said they are not going to warranty because there was no air bag light on and no codes pulled. I said what are you talking about, it's in to confirm the horn doesn't work and the cause is the faulty spiral cable. What didn't they understand? After a lengthy discussion he finally got it. They called me and said they confirmed the faulty spiral cable . They charged me $82.95 to do the 10 minute test. Todd with Toyota called me and said they will now not pay for a new spiral cable now.

I am soo pissed, I wasted all that time and money and Toyota backed out . I told Todd you may win this round but now I am going to buy 2 new 2014 Honda Accords and a 2012 Nissan Truck instead of a Toyota. And I did just that. This was the first Toyota I have ever purchased and I really was shocked with the way Toyota had treated me.
