Passenger occupied seat sensor or mat is not detecting a passenger causing airbag to be turned off. Not sure if it is wiring or mat sensor or something else but airbag is a safety issue. VW should recall seat as I’ve seen many complaints for same issue.

Air bag warning light illuminated and will not shut off. After reading the owners manual and it stating that there could be a possible air bag default

I checked to see if any recalls were pending .... surprisingly, nothing! How can VW in good conscience not recall this alarming safety issue??

This is ridiculous and VW of America needs to produce a more reliable product or stand behind their poor workmanship and repair. I think before it is over I would have spent more money into this vehicle than what it is worth.

Hope VW will fix airbag light (at their expense). This isn't the first time either. Car too young to have these problems.

Jetta TDI 1.9L Diesel

How can this not be a issue not covered under some sort of extended warranty? I've had many different vehicles with airbags and never an issue before. I had it checked out at the dealer, they looked at the wiring harness and said it is ok, the issue has been explained as a faulty side airbag igniter in the seat and therefore requires a whole new airbag?!! This should definitely be cause for a recall.

VW'S are not what they used to be. I work on my wife's car to save cash. I was lucky to find data online to guide me to fix this poorly designed connector which was the cause of the passenger side airbag light. Buy a VAG scanner on ebay people they cost about 70 bucks. I cut out the loose fitting connector properly solder spliced the wires as per the document online and properly insulated and heat shrunk the new wiring. and reset the light now all is well.

I love my car but it has come with some issues! Apparently the airbag light malfunction is pretty common, can we get a freaking recall please?! My car isn't under warranty anymore and I'm not about to shell out $100's to fix these common issues!

I was told that the wiring harness was too short so the connectors to my drivers back seat seatbelt sensor kept pulling apart. They had to replace with me carrying the cost. I was in contact with VW Canada and received a $250 credit at the dealership to use on my next appointment. I asked them then and also sent a letter as such.

Could please tell me when VW invented wire (Harness) that could shrink or metal (car body) that could stretch to force the wires to come apart? I told them that this should be a problem right from the manufacture and should have been fully covered and I am still dealing with them on this one.
