Was driving on residential street, approximately 25-30 mph, and car just lost power and stalled. After a few minutes it could start again - but the vehicle would not move, even if gas was pushed down. After a week at the dealership - they said it was the throttle. My car would not start before (after only having the car for approximately 7 months and approximately 2000 miles) - and after having it towed to the dealer, they just said the fuel was gelling. But they did do a computer upgrade and said there "particles in the fuel line" that they cleaned out and said I may have gotten "bad fuel". 1 week after my 40000 mile routine maintenance check - my glow plug light went on and I had to have a sensor replaced.

When at a stop sign or after applying the brake, there is a long lag before the accelerator will engage. Once when stopped at a stop sign, I let the brake pedal go and engaged the accelerator because there was oncoming traffic. The car rolled into the oncoming lanes and only when I reached the third lane did the accelerator engage. An oncoming large pickup was accelerating away from his traffic light and almost broadsided my car. He apparently didn't see me until almost upon me. This long lag between letting the brake go and pressing the accelerator has happened several times since I purchased the car. The boardwalk VW people of richardson, tx as well as the university VW people in albuquerque, nm said the this was because both the brake and acceleration depended on hydraulic pressure that is shared between them. They also said that they have reported this to VW and VW said that this was designed this way on purpose. I think that this is a very dangerous situation.

The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. While driving approximately 45 mph, the engine began to rev excessively high. There was no response when the accelerator pedal was depressed. There were also no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle finally resumed normal operation after the accelerator pedal was depressed several times. In addition, the vehicle exhibited unintended acceleration. The failures occurred spontaneously. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but they could not duplicate the failures. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer on three separate occasions for identical failures, but there were no resolutions. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 2,500 and current mileage was 4,000.

While driving, vehicle transmission disengaged resulting in no power to maintain speed. This occurred twice, once on a rural highway traveling approximately 60 mph and once on the interstate traveling approximately 70 mph. With the first occurrence the transmission re-engaged after a few seconds. With the second occurrence, the "prnds" shift indicator light began flashing and I had to merge over through traffic into the emergency lane to avoid high speed traffic, all the while having no power. I then had to shut the engine off and restart it to clear the malfunction. I scheduled an appointment at the dealer for repair and a sensor(s) were replaced on the transmission's computer. Since the repair I've not had another malfunction. This malfunction poses a serious hazard as one loses the ability to maintain speed in traffic, resulting in a stalled vehicle situation.
