I had this issue at about 19000 miles when the car was under warranty. Dealership service said it was a part issue and replaced. Same thing started happening early this year. Key would get stuck whether turning on or off ignition. The car is now at 61000 miles. I called VW but they will not assist unless under an extended warranty. Have to have it repaired before and if it gets worse.

2013 VW Jetta key gets stuck in the ignition.

The ignition was replaced once already before the warranty ran out about 6 months after I bought the car. Now the warranty ran out and having the same issue.

I can't believe VW hasn't taken any action on this problem.

I don't think I will by another VW !!!

The car was under warranty and a dealership in Ohio ordered the replacement part but never notified me that it came in, thus when I inquired after my warranty had expired they then wanted to charge for both parts and labor.

cannot turn the car off, the key won;t turn

the car is 38 months old and has 19,000 miles on it. It is just out of warranty. Volkswagen is telling me that I don't drive the car enough. I don't know what that has to do with the starter and the key not being able to turn and shut the car off. If I didn't find the solution of tapping on the key while turning, my car would have run out of gas. The car is driven daily, in and around my town and the problem is intermittent. The car will be fine for 2 or 3 days, then the key is stuck and you cannot turn the car off.

The car is at the auto dealer now, and I am trying to see if VW will pick up some of the costs.

I Googled this and apparently it doesn't happen to just the 2013. There were other solutions to get the key to turn and remove from the ignition. I took it to the dealership and they said this was the second they had seen in 2 weeks. Now I am having to fork out about $600 to get this fixed. I have no other means of transportation and I am a single mother so I have no choice to get it fixed. The temporary solution to get the car to shut off and remove the key can be a pain in the butt.
