I was about 1.3 miles away from home when my check engine light came on. The next day I got in my car to take it to VW to see what the problem might be. The car would turn over but wouldn't stay on. We had the car towed and to our surprise were told we had defective timing chain resulting in engine failure. Now we are in need of quoted 6k-9k engine replacement our car has 67,000 miles. Called VW, 7k past warranty, sorry!

The problem got worse. I was the second owner. I bought the Jetta 2/16 with 9,000 miles on it. The Jetta was in the shop three times in December of 2016 with engine problems and is going back in March 2017 because blower fan not working.

took car back to dealership several time, claim it was repaired. 2 or 3 days later light came back on and I was told by the dealership that they were not VW dealership and I contact the used car commission and nothing was done. the dealership would not give me the warranty on the part they replace if they replace it at all
