Jetta SE 2.5L

Engine would lose power and stall while driving and starting up. EPC light came on. Eventually the engine light came on with code P0321. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor ($15 on rockauto.com) and that fixed it. Previously tried replacing the throttle body with throttle position sensor but that did not fix it.

Jetta TSI 1.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

Many problems with this vehicle ranging from horn not working and replacing all the door locks and trunk lock to mechatronic unit replacement, flap motor replacement,AC compressor replacement, ABS pump replacement, engine job,oil disappearing, running lights blowing, vehicle shuts off while driving, pressing the accelerator for fast take off and the vehicle slowing down and almost being rear ended on the highway. Honestly I can't even remember all the problems but when I requested a printout from the dealer it was pages and pages of stuff I had forgotten about. Even they were surprised.

Second Jetta I owned and I can't tell which one was worse. I will never, ever, ever, ever ever even look at a VW again.

Jetta S 2.0L

I was told that the VW recommended an additive when my Jetta was in the shop for running roughly and the engine light on on Dec 2, 2016. I was told to drive the vehicle for a while and expect some roughness. On Dec 24th, while driving on an Interstate, the engine light came on and the vehicle lost ability to maintain speed. I was driving 65 mph in heavy traffic when I found myself not able to maintain speed and the vehicle mph started dropping to below 40 mph by the time I could steer out of traffic to the side of the road. I took the vehicle to the dealer who replaced the oxygen sensor after much complaining on my part. (Christmas eve, I was due to leave town for a week the next day which I could not do as loaner vehicle could not be taken out of state). Problem was not fixed when I picked up my car on Dec 26th. I started my vehicle, it ran rough. I drove out of the dealer parking lot and had not driven a quarter of a mile when the check engine light came back on and the engine lost power again.

My 2013 Jetta shut off three times while I was driving. I was going between 20 and 40ish MPH. The power steering also went. My car almost drove into a crowd of people working out on the sidewalk. Dick Ide of East Rochester treated the problem as if it were a minimal concern. Worst service you will ever receive. They said they fixed the problem but it occurred again. Volkswagen (Corporate) did not offer any assistance as well. Never buy a Volkswagen if you care about your life and others. The new cars have terrible electrical problems.
