Strong fuel smell in the trunk and back seat. Found under the back seat it had melted small fire. Paid almost 800.00 to have the fuel pump replaced. Contacted Volkswagen re: truly serious malfunction it could have caused serious life threatening injuries.
They took my car and brought it to the VW dealership and had a new VW fuel pump. But, no RECALL that I can find or refund of my out of pocket cost. Never mind the consent headaches I was dealing with.
This was the SECOND huge out of pocket expense for this car. I had already replaced the engine due to the faulty timing chain. UGH!
This car was my daughter's and she took excellent care of her car. Student in college and didn't have the money for all of these hugely expensive repairs which were NO FAULT of hers.
