This is just the latest thing to break on this vehicle. The car is my 17 year old daughters and without the airbag working, I'm not having anyone drive it till I can get it fixed. If it takes a new clockspring, I guess I'll be looking to figure out how to install it myself. If I can't, it might be time to just have it towed away to its final resting place. After owning an Audi that turned out to be a lemon and eventually purchased back after our lawyers got involved and all the problems we've had with my daughters Passat, it would take an act of God to get me to own another VW product. They don't seem to stand by their products and I've had more problems with these two vehicles than the dozen or so other vehicles I've owned in my lifetime.

VW has a history of recalls of the clock spring. Part has been backordered forever and will be for the foreseeable future according to reports. Car is unsafe to drive (no horn or airbag for driver), won't pass inspection and will be very difficult to sell with this problem. What are we supposed to do with these cars? This is my 19 year old's car and he needs for work and college.

I was scared and afraid to get injured or make an accident do to AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING FAILURE DEFECT

I made a left turn and heard a loud crack and all lights in the control went off. I got a message :Airbag Error, and check engine.

I lost all of the steering wheel control and connection to the car. Every turn it makes a big noise and I was afraid the airbag will deploy.

I have it in VW repair right now and wait for Info. I suspect they want to charge me a lot to fix this although I found out that VW is investigating this problem since it happens quit often start investigation March 2015 PE15010

No Recall as of today. I had a lot of VWs and never had a problem like this. I wish VW will take action quick.
