This problem happened twice. Once in September. I was driving home from work. Happened to get gas that morning. On the way home from work the car started jerking, the EPC light and check engine lights came on. I had the car towed to the nearest VW dealer, in Union NJ. They blamed the problem on "bad gas". I had the dept. of Weights and Measures go to the gas station where I bought the gas. They tested the gas and said they didn't find any problems. I was originally quoted $1400 to fix the issue, but then was charge $1800. That's on top of what it cost me to rent a car for the weekv b/c they didn't have a loaner available. I was going to try to have this issue fixed with insurance but that's a whole other story. Cut to last Wednesday, June 21. The exact same thing happened!! Only difference was I didn't get gas that day.

A couple of weeks earlier I had received a recall notice in the mail about a problem with the gas delivery system. It said the EPC and check engine lights would come on and the car would stall. It made me wonder if that was what was originally wrong the first time this happened. This time I had the car towed to my dealer. Had to pay out of pocket for the tow b/c VW Roadside Assistance failed horribly and couldn't fine me a tow truck. After waiting for two hours I got fed up and found someone to tow me. The car is currently being fixed as per this recall. The whole thing with Union VW saying it was bad gas is highly suspicious to me. I have been a loyal VW owner since I was 21. I am 55 now. After this experience I will probably end my relationship with VW.
