CarComplaints.com Notes: VW gave the Tiguan a facelift with new headlights, a fancier grille, and improved performance. Unfortunately they didn't address what gave most 2010 owners headaches --- engine problems.

problem #2

When I turned my steering wheel, it clicked and the air bag error light came on, now the electrics on the steering wheel will not work, I can't change the time, the tyre air pressure thingy, etc... I am unsure if the air bags work and I have seen there has been a recall on some of the Volkswagon Tiguan cars and I would like mine checked also.

Update from May 7, 2022: Can anyone help or advise on what can be done about it please, as I can't seem to get the part from anywhere including the Volkswagen dealer.

problem #1

Tiguan 2.0L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission

The clock spring is broken. Therefore, the driver airbag on the steering wheel does not work. Therefore, there is a safety issue if one drives the car. The problem is not fixed because there are no parts to fix it. There was little to no inventory for replacement of this part (at exactly the same time that it is apparently breaking on many vehicles). Apparently there is a chip in the clock spring and there are no chips available to manufacture replacement springs. I was told that the part has been on back order since October 2021. I was told that the part may be available in July 2022, but I am not holding my breath. Until then, I will be driving with the safety of a 1970's vehicle.
