My Tiguan has been emergency braking when reversing even when there's nothing behind.
It has now done it at least 10 times in the last month. The braking is extremely aggressive and completely unpredictable. I’ve got dashcam footage showing it happening with no obstruction behind the vehicle.
A passenger was injured during one incident, and even the VW dealership experienced it themselves while reversing the car into the garage. They told me it’s a “known issue” but said there were no fault codes and no fix currently available, they call it a "feature" so they don't have to take responsibility for it.
