I bought this car back in 2012, and started noticing water leaking through the sunroof in 2013. I was always too afraid to bring it to a dealer in fears it would be too costly, so I would just run a snake on the car until the clog was gone.

Eventually, I called a nearby Volvo mechanic who knew exactly what the issue was! The drainage pipes on these cars are cheap plastic, which fail after a big rainfall and leak into the footwells. I believe the pipes he put in are PVC, but they are sold by Volvo I believe. A simple, $250 fix that took all of 2 hours.

It's a shame a lot of people's cars got water damage from this, but if you're experiencing these issues, look into this! Haven't had a drop of water since.

leaking sunroof , water under drivers seat 2 to 3 in

Volvo had to replace kvm, all wiring n connectors under front drivers seat . All this because of poor design where drain tube connects to that ridiculous elbow n corner of windshield. Very bad experience with Volvo. . Do I have any recourse?

Evidentially, the sunroof drain tubes get clogged easily because it was poorly made and causes all kinds of issues. Why won't Volvo just admit they made a mistake and assume the responsibility...help all of us that helped make them millions of dollars by purchasing their vehicles. Instead, they want us to pay thousands more to repair their problem. I was soooo happy when I bought my Volvo...I wanted something reliable and safe for my family. Instead, I got a car that gets puddles of water in the floorboard causing the moisture to ruin the headliner, mold my carpet, mildew to buildup on the glass, and no telling what it's doing to the electronics under the carpet and seats...and it's very embarrassing letting anyone ride in my car because of the smell. No matter how many times I clean that car, I can not get the mildew smell out. I'm afraid the mold is going to cause health problems for my family. My husband is disabled so I am unable to spend money on repairs much less another vehicle. I guess Volvo has our money now, why should they worry about us???
