This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
In October 2003 and July 2004, while driving my car to work each time what appeared to be small rocks/pebbles/stones have struck the windshield of my 2001 Volvo S60 2.4T in the same general area around the rearview mirror. Both times, the windshield shattered in that region and cracks propagated from the point of impact. This appears to be a stress region in the windshield that cannot withstand impacts by relatively small objects. These two incidents have resulted in the replacement of the windshield each time.
