I need an attorney. I have been adding a quart of oil after 300-375 for several months. The car dealer told me that I had a leak. They printed a picture with a puddle of oil under it and told me that I need to pay $2,000+ to get it repaired before getting the oil consumption testing done. My car never leaks. I brought it to their attention and then they said you can bring it in for testing. They conducted the test and now I have to keep adding coolant fluid. I have driven past the 375 miles and the warning light isn't coming up. I wonder if they disable the warning light.

They have been inconsistent and changing their stories about picking up the car, valet and loaners from day one.

I just found out recently that there was an issue with this model. Sadly I purchased my Volvo used. However, after reading the complaints of other Volvo owners, my model is in the same boat. Excessive oil consumption after about 1000 miles a quart needed to be added. On my way home from work one afternoon, I got the check engine light and reduced power notification. I had the vehicle towed over to Volvo of Marietta for a diagnostic only to be told there was no compression in the third cylinder and the engine needed to be replaced at a whopping $19,200 (brand new). At the time, I had only owned this car for 10 months. My heart is broken especially if Volvo was aware of issues with this model and is offering owners no assistance. I pray everyone finds a way to get help that owns these models and what is even worse is having to make payments on a vehicle that has a failed, expensive engine.

I was told when I asked about what seemed to me to be more oil than necessary, to check for oil leaks. Twice I reported no leaks. The oil usage just kept getting worse, so that I have used 6 liters between 5/27/22, 76,045 miles to 3/18/23, 82,234 miles. I reported the problem, again when I sent in for 80,000 tune-up, 3/18, and I picked up the car 8/20. Nothing was mentioned to me about my complaint. Today I was finally told to call the dealer when the GPS said I needed oil... Now doing research, I find out that the problem was known when I had my 100,000 mile warranty in effect, but no fix was offered for this excessive oil usage.

The first time I changed the oil myself, very little oil came out. I dismissed it as a fluke and then the oil light came on when I was pulling into a parking space. I literally had to add 3 quarts of oil. Today again I was driving and the light came on and said to pull over safely that there was no oil pressure. Sure enough there’s hardly any oil in my engine and I am again adding oil. There’s no classic white smoke or anything coming out of my muffler, but clearly the oil is going somewhere. I read the complaint about the piston rings and feel confident that my car is likely suffering from the same. Add me to the list and let me know when I need to do for next steps please!
