Volvo Recall R246: Power Steering Reservoir

2007 Volvo S80

The driver may experience a sudden loss of power steering, increasing the risk of a crash.

Steering — Hydraulic Power Assist — Hose, Piping, And Connections

Summary
Volvo is recalling certain model year 2007 S80 passenger cars manufactured from March 8, 2006, through May 16, 2007. The power steering reservoir return hose may have been incorrectly routed, which can result in increased pressure in the power steering system. The power steering return hose may burst at the steering gear due to the increased pressure, resulting in a loss of power steering fluid.
Actions
Volvo dealers will inspect the routing of the power steering reservoir return hose and make repairs as necessary, free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during August 2011. Owners may contact Volvo at 1-201-768-7300.
