1. Low beam headlights failed - both at the same time, resulting in high beam only driving at night. Units available for inspection. 2. Yes. No low beam headlights. Upon inspection of wiring, during replacement of low beams, headlight wiring insulation found to be flaking off, exposing bare wiring. 3. Unknown. Found no information in Google search. Plenty of information on others having same issue, in Volvo forums online. Last search regarding this problem brought me to NHTSA website, to look on a recall about this issue, then to this form submission. 4. No. This is the first time I've been exposed to the problem. This is the first case personally, where a vehicle has suffered a loss of both low beam headlights simultaneously. The wiring issue was found when I pulled out the old bulbs for replacement. 5. No. My wife informed me that the low beams stopped working on her car. There was an indicator on the instrument panel indicating "low beam failure." Strangely, I found both low beams to be burned out.

Submitting complaint based on 2008 Volvo XC70 recall #184/SRS software upgrade 2008 XC70. Volvo Corp & local Volvo dealerships are unable to confirm the specific VIN, mileage, date completed, & place of servicing of recall #184 on my Volvo; specific VIN completion details of recall are necessary for insurance coverage to drive vehicle per my insurance company. Was told to not drive vehicle on 01/28/12 & 01/30/12 by insurance company until specific details are provided & submitted in writing from us to insurance company as noted above to my vehicle. SRS airbag warning lights appear upon starting car at random times, turn off, or appear for no reason at all; was told problem was due to disconnecting & cleaning battery on 01/03/12, specifically NHTSA/ODI safety complaint id #10442559. Dealer ran $130 diagnostic check for codes (to be reimbursed upon completing repair from dealership as noted on dealership invoice of estimated repairs from 01/03/12) on 01/05/12 & codes determined it was related to unhooking battery cables to clean as per complaint #10442559. Paid for repairs on 01/05/12, was refused by dealership $130 diagnostic check fee reimbursement, even though it's documented on estimate invoice that diagnostic fee would be reimbursed from 01/03/12. Dealer stated SRS airbags lights would not appear again as of 01/05/12. As of 01/27/12 the last time vehicle was driven per insurance company to not drive, SRS airbag codes appear randomly & intermittently. Volvo Corp & local Volvo dealerships are refusing to do recall #184 as they say it has "been completed" although there are no specifics to VIN# relationship, mileage, date complete, & place completed; all other recalls & warranty repairs on all documents (with exception to recall #184) have specific VIN number, mileage, date complete, & place completed documented. This complaint is similar to ODI id #10211353.
