This has happened multiple times. Seems to be after long trip and it is a hot day. While driving, usually on the freeway, the car makes a loud clunking noise as though you ran over something. All interior lights go out, you have no blinkers or brake lights, no radio, windows will not function, but the engine keeps running (diminished power). All of a sudden everything comes back on, but warning light shows Air Bag Failure. Once it occurs, it will reoccur usually within several minutes or miles traveled. Eventually all controls, except engine, stay off. You need to stop vehicle, wait and then start the car. Everything functions again except the ABS Failure is still noted.

I brought it in to Volvo. They updated the computer. Everything went well for about four months and then same tings started occurring. Appears to be related to driving over 100 miles or/and being a hot day. I refuse to let anyone else in the family drive the car. If it occurs at night, you need to pull over to a safe area and wait for car to cool and try to nurse it home until it occurs again.
