Volvo XC90 customer service FAILURE. I had clicking sound in rear wheels 97k. I took it to Dealer and they knew right away it was either failed angle gear sleeve or failed angle gear assembly. Dealer said they would try to get corporate to cover parts (they know it is a problem) if I paid them 2100 first, but no guarantee they could. So I am facing a 2100-5000 bill to fix a poorly designed part (check the web, there are many failures of angle gear sleeve). No thanks Mr Dealer. I checked local repair shops who said they could replace sleeve for 469 with parts.

What a ripoff. This feels like planned part failure to get more work for dealers. Or this is just poor design by Volvo. According to the local repair shop and dealer, water gets into sleeve (because of poor design) and rust starts which wears part our prematurely. Check online and you will see hundreds of people with same problem.

I emailed Volvo Cars Corporate to see if they were interersted in doing the right thing. Sorry, "there is nothing we can do" because I didnt have dealer do work.

Well not only will I never take my Volvo to the dealer again. I will tell every person I know - NEVER buy a Volvo.
