A metallic or clunking sound is coming from the front end when driving over bumps. The noise disappears when the brakes are applied.
The issue was traced to the dust shields around the brake rotors, which were causing the noise due to the rattling brake pads. While there is an updated part designed to address this problem, there is no recall, and it’s not covered under the extended warranty. The dealership quoted me over $1,000 to replace the dust shields and re-grease the brake pad guides.
