Kia Recalls Sportage and Sorento to Fix Trailer Brake Lights
Kia recalls Sportage and Sorento SUVs with trailer brake lights that never go off.

— Kia is recalling more than 10,200 model year 2016-2017 Sorento and 2017 Sportage SUVs because the trailer brake lights can stay illuminated due to problems with the tow hitch modules.

The recalled SUVs are equipped with accessory trailer hitch wiring harnesses with hitch modules that malfunction and activate the trailer brake lights even if the brake pedals aren't touched.

The 2016-2017 Sorento SUVs were manufactured October 27, 2014, to August 25, 2016, and the 2017 Sportage SUVs were built December 10, 2015, to August 26, 2016.

The Kia Sorento and Sportage recall is scheduled to begin January 18, 2017. Owners with questions should call Kia at 800-333-4542 and use recall number SC142.
