Chrysler knows we are never going to purchase another Chrysler product again and word of mouth spreads fast, I just am going to the news crews and papers tired of getting ripped off from companies who are out to get the almighty $$$ and screw all of us little people RECALL is the word Chrysler needs to say or I am done forever!!!!!!!!

Chrysler should design better engine oil cooling and circulation, if they are using high temperature engine. there should be a cutoff for high temperature, so that engine could be saved for head gasket blowout, engine demage and costly repair. Put senthatik oil 5w30 if lite still dere replace oil pump.

If your oil light comes on (like mine did 1 week ago) take your time and don't get nervous just yet. Many posts will put fear into you with a total engine replacement. I just replaced the Oil Pressure Sensor (located right above the Oil Filter, behind a heating protector) and the issue went away. Cost = $12.00 Take it one step at a time. You can replace the sensor yourself if you have some time. Took me about an hour and half due to the placement of the sensor underneath the car.
You have to remove the heating protector plate (3 bolts) which is a little cramped up with the exhaust system running underneath it. The factory sensor appears to be pretty cheap and any replacement is much better than what was originally installed. When I pulled the electrical connector off the sensor, it was covered with oil. Obviously, the problem was a leak from the sensor. Clean the connector, replace the sensor and see what happens next. Don't just jump into an engine replacement...that's crazy regardless of what you are told. Good luck.

Just had a new motor installed one week ago (brand new) oil light comes on at idle of when I go. Yesterday spent all day at the shop they changed the sensor still did not work finally they call jasper motors and they said there is a problem with the harness and that’s what is causing the problem oil light keeps coming on. They said a small part added to the harness will take care of the problem have your Mackinac check oil pressure chances are there is nothing wrong with the motor the reason for a new motor was because it over heated and the valve stuck Jasper motors takes all the mistakes the auto makers do and re- mill so you don’t ever have the problems again that’s with all makes and models If any one wants there number let me know.

i bought a 2002 chrysler sebring 2.7 v6 certified from the dealer.It had 40,000 miles on it,it now has 134,000,oil light comes off n on.was told that is gonna need a new engine.i still owe 4600 on the car,how m i supposed 2 get a new engine while payin 4 it also???CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM FIXXXX ITTTT.class action lawsuit in the making....rippin off hard workin americans.this is like the 40th car ive seen with the same problem,man up and recall them...

Well about 6 months ago the oil pressure light came on when i would come to a stop. I took it to the dealer for repair and they told me we can not recreate the problem. I said it does it for me all the time. Well monday i took my kids to school and the heater quits, starts blowing cold air. So i pick up some antifreeze on the way home and a quart of oil, add coolant and oil because the car went from full to low oil in less then a week. So i add the oil and the coolant because it was way low as well. Well i got back out to the car because I forgot something and see the oil I just added drip drip drip onto the carport. So I move the car off the carport and check the fluids again, oil looks ok but the water gone again. I took it in today and they tell me they think its the water pump there is leakage all over, but couldnt find the oil leak because of all the coolant all over. Im a single mom of 3 kids without wheels, quote to fix is $900 assuming no other damage, and was told not to drive it because if the shaft breaks the engine will be ruined..wondering if the engine isnt already ruined from all the complaints i have read about these cars. Is it even worth the effort to pay the $900?

Same as the others I've read here. Oil light comes on at Idle. It doesn't happen until the engine heats up a bit. (2 miles of driving) Over the last 2000 miles it comes on at higher and higher engine RPMs. Now it will come on at 2000 rpm. One mechanic thought it might be the sensing line. Not an actual oil pumping issue.

I'm having the same problem with my 2002 sebring, as well...the oil light is coming on while standing idle, but only after being driven for a while, not immediately after being started up....What to do???? I've already invested $2300 in a (used) engine due to my water pump busting and leaking an enormous amount of water down in it!!! This sooooo sucks!!! :(

As many of you are reporting,my car too had recently begun to display the low oil pressure lite.This has steadily gotten worse to the point where I have stopped driving it before I wind up siezing the engine.I am somewhat of a "gearhead" and refuse to pay Chrysler's(or anybody elses)mechanics to fix my vehicles,so when this happened I began to search for reasons why it happened and what can I do about it.As it turns out the 2.7L engines suffer a major engineering defect and short of sending the original engine block to a machine shop to correct the source of our grief,the cheapest (and best?)solution is to swap it over to either a 3.2L or 3.5L engine,neither of which suffer from the same lack of proper design as boat anchor known as the 2.7L.Unfortunately if you are looking for warranty work or for Chrysler to go good for any part of this cost you are out of luck,but at least you will have you car back in good running order and won't suffer the same let down as the 2.7L gave you.There is a website called www.oilsludge.com which posts a link to a do it yourself website for Dodge/Chrysler enthusiasts(www.dodgetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?) which has a wealth of valuable information which you WILL NEED TO KNOW,so follow the suggested link or type in the email address in brackets exactly as shown and at least you should have some idea of what you are up against because as I said earlier,Dodge/Chrysler ain't gonna do nothin for ya.Good luck to one and all.

I would personally recommend no one buy a sebring, or any other dodge product.
if the transmission does not go out or the paint peel off, the engine oil problems will
happen.

I've had my 02 Chrysler Sebring Convertible since 2005. For the last maybe 6 months, the oil light comes on. Whenever I make a stop at a stop sign or light, or whenever the car is at idle, the oil light comes on and flickers. After reading all of these complaints, I am terrified that my engine will blow up at any given moment. I get regular oil changes. My airbag light is very annoying. It comes on and off as it pleases. I had that "fixed" back in 06 by the dealership, but a few weeks later...it was back on. My passenger front window lately has been moving extremely slow when I try to raise it up or down. I filed a complaint online with the BBB, and waiting to see what comes of it. I HATE Chrysler...I will NEVER EVER buy a Chrysler car again....Please don't give them any bailout money.

after getting a $795 solenoid assembly job done with 159,000 miles on the car, about a week later, my OIL PRESSURE LIGHT would come on at stop lights and go off when i accelerated. took the car back and the mechanic said it was the oil pump and would cost $995. i got a second opinion at a Chrysler dealership and the said it was an oil switch installed at $125. so obviously i went with the Chrysler experts and was relieved to spend only $125. was driving the car home and guess what....oil light came on at idle. so i called them back. he said to bring the car in the next day, it is probably more serious...like the MOTOR!! he actually said this has been a problem they have seen many times and more than likely i will need th motor replaced. sad thing is, i LOVE my car! probably going to have it fixed. Chrysler has not returned any of my many emails...maybe a class action lawsuit is the answer. ive seen many complaints about this onl ine

Just doing my part to make sure the world knows about the crooks over at Chrysler. Car has had problems since day one, but the worst one to date is this oil pressure problem. The light kept flickering on at idle, so I brought it into my mechanic (He's probably the most trusted one for a few cities around). Anyway, he said there isn't much they can do about it, because this car engine has a bad history of getting oil sludge, and that when it finally consumes the engine, the motor will cease up and fail. Great. A new engine costs into the thousands, and I'm not about to pay that much for something the car company should fix. I mean, I might as well buy another cheap car.
