From 2004-2006 electrical overloading in the driver's side instrument panel caused numerous reports of interior fires. The interior infernos became so commonplace that Chrysler eventually issued a recall.
The problems didn't stop there, however. Owners of the recalled vehicles complained about being treated unfairly and given take-it-or-leave-it low ball settlement offers. "They offered me $2000 under NADA retail as a settlement," said one owner, "and have been rude and hostile to deal with." I received two safety recall notices from Chrysler for my vehicle - recall notices are P40/NHTSA 14V-354 and P78/NHTSA 14V-770, both dealing with an apparent defect to the airbag inflators. We have now checked with three Dodge dealers in the greater san antonio area to get this safety recall handled. Every dealer has indicated they do not have the parts in stock, Chrysler has not released the parts and/or Chrysler will not allow the dealers to special order the parts. This has been ongoing for several months. Therefore, I am filing a complaint at this time. It seems to lack common sense for a vehicle manufacturer to issue a safety recall notice, then fail to provide the parts required to address the safety defect. Please advise what action, if any, can be taken to remedy this issue.

The front driver side wheel detached and caused the vehicle to veer off the road, crash into several trees, roll over three times, and land on the passenger side. The air bags did not deploy. I was notified of an airbag recall on my vehicle approximately 2 weeks ago but the letter indicated I could not call to schedule maintance prior to 2/23. I started calling first thing that Monday. All 6 dealerships I contacted either take my info and say they will call me back or say they don't have any parts to correct the issue and I should check back in a couple of weeks. I have received no return phone calls from the ones that said they will get back with me. My only option is to continue driving a possible death trap for no telling how long. Not to mention there's been that possibility for the last 11 years. This is ridiculous and unacceptable.

The horn started going off on my 2004 Dodge Durango. We pulled the fuse for the horn and replaced it that did not fix the problem. We then took it in to griffin hub Dodge and Chrysler dealership. I was told at one point that the relay for the airbags was bad. Then the second time that I called I was told the wiring for the air bake was bad. I will be taking it to a different dealership to see if I get the same answer. However if the wiring to the airbag is bad that is a safety issue not a wear and tear issue and should be covered under a recall.
