CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.

Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.

Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

Im so annoyed with this vehicle . I've only had the vehicle for less than a year and have the following problems .

* Stalling * Clunks and jumps into gear in reverse really loud sounds like a car accident. * driving around 70mph sometimes i hear loud clunk and jumps into gear. * Problems going uphill in reverse or over little 1 inch sidewalks. * Driving under 30mph car feels like its hesitating .. kinda jerking motion back and forth. * Front driver side and passenger side window pillars are a big ass blind spot . almost hit walking pedestrians. * Driverside headlight went out for a month cause car needed software update . Warranty didn't cover update * $100 deductible every time car gets serviced with the warranty.

08 ford edge rolls back all the time on hills if u take foot off the brake u will roll into car behind you. Very dangerous.

It is unacceptable that a 2008 Ford Edge should roll forward while in reverse or backwards while in drive. These were not large hills. One incident occurred at a stop sign with a slight slope upwards. When I put the car into drive, it rolled backwards and almost hit the car behind me. While in a driveway parked on a small slope forward, I attempted to reverse the vehicle only to roll forward. I almost hit a child in the driveway!!!!. I had to hit the brake with my left foot and the gas with my right!!!! I did not buy a manual transmission vehicle, I bought an automatic. The hell with fuel economy if it means risking a life!!! Ford said this is normal!!!!
