I can't believe this car was just purchased last month! The battery light has been coming on intermittently, and twice in the past week, the dash lights all lit up within a few miles, and the car started dying right on the road....I had to pull over in a parking lot during a tornado warning.... not sure but last week we had the alternator checked and they said it was ok, but then this happens!...This could be very dangerous to have happen on the highway going 65 mph!...There should be a safety recall on this vehicle...spoke to previous owner, and now he tells me the alternator has already been replaced twice on this vehicle.

I had the alternator in my 2007 ford focus go out during a 30 mile drive home in a heavy down pour on the fourth of July. I put a battery charger on the battery for a day and drove it 16 miles to the dealership where I bought it. It occurred 30 days past the 36 month bumper to bumper warranty expired, I had an extended warranty with $100 dollar deductible, which I think ford should reimburse. The car only had 6100 miles on it (3 yrs old). I asked service mechanic if anybody had this problem there and he said 'no.' I said, well try looking the problem up on the internet, this alternator issue is covered specifically,and supported by hundreds of angry focus owners. I want the info or site to join the recall list, and any info on the proper way to go after ford motor company for reimbursement for repairs.

I have a 2007 ford focus with an manual 5 speed transmisson. DO NOT replace your alternator and DO NOT Take it to the ford dealer. FIND A LOCAL ALTERNATOR REPAIR SHOP. If you take the alternator out yourself which takes less than an HOUR and isn't very hard at all (10 bolts MAX). It will only cost you $60.00 US dollars. OR LESS. The only part that needs to be replaced on a low mileage focus alternator is the RECTIFIER. The rest of the alternator is fine (bearing, bushings, voltage reg, ETC). If man builds it, it is guaranteed to fail. I had the same problem occur while my radio was cutting out and finally died.

I gathered a wiring diagram and traced it to a connector (C210) which is in the panel by you're left foot in drivers seat. As soon as I touched the connector the radio was in and out and finally the instrument panel lit up, odometer and RPM out Sunroof not functioning. Off to the dealership.

The connector as far as I know is faulty or loose pin connections. Dealership rectified the problem by either replacing or re tighten connector plug and pins.
