CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2016 Ford Focus & its "Powershift" transmission has a defect trend where the car shudders when accelerating, especially when starting uphill.
Most owners have reported their Ford Focus remains driveable while the vehicle is still at low mileage, but the shuddering is annoying & unpleasant & may reduce the resale value of the vehicle.
However, owners of higher-mileage vehicles from earlier 3rd generation Focus model years report transmission failure & a host of other major & expensive transmission-related problems. Potential buyers beware.

My car's RCM (restraint control module) failed suddenly in July 2016. The dashboard lit up loud alarms and four error lights or messages:
1. Airbag warning light
2. Traction control warning light
3. Service beltminder (that's the seatbelt sensor)
4. Hill start assist unavailable (and the hill start assist indeed stopped working)
I took the car to the local dealership, where they determined that the car was unsafe to drive and needed a replacement RCM. They tried to find the part, and then ordered one when they couldn't find it anywhere. That was over 8 weeks ago, and I still have no car. No information on whether my part has even been manufactured yet, where it's manufactured, or how long that might take.
