It all started as no heat in the car. No warning light, no alarm, the temperature gauge didn't change (showed normal - between hot and cold).
I smelled coolant a few times before I popped the hood. I figured it was just from getting hot and the reservoir purging the vapor. When I finally checked it, the reservoir was full to the overflow hole. Coolant was all over the engine bay. I am lucky I didn't warp the head from overheating it. When it blows the head gasket 50k miles out, I will know why. It took over a week to get it fixed. I had to drive around some massive truck that had similar transmission shudder issues (really ford? Your top selling vehicle and you design them like this?).
The repair was to swap out the water pump and the seal. I think they even cleaned my engine bay, that was nice of the dealer. I still smell coolant from it every few weeks. I have put nearly 20k miles on it and I assume I am going to need another soon. Until then I am going to drive it like I stole it.
