I now know Ford had a problem with this engine. It should have been on a recall.

In December of 2019 my car started overheating and white smoke poured out of the engine. Took it to the dealership shop and they told me that coolant was leaking into the engine and it needed to be replaced at $6,000. Ford refuses to fix the problem, I was told to replace it myself and if there was a recall on it later, I would be reimbursed. It's still sitting in my driveway. Going to file with the class action lawsuit and hope something will be done about it.

Fusion SE 1.5L

When I started the car it started shaking and acting like it was going to turn off after 30 seconds it was normal then I noticed that the check engine light was on so as soon as I arrived home I looked under the hood and saw that the coolant was almost completely gone, by the way the temp gage never came on or anything, so I added some coolant. After 2 days the check engine light turned off so I though that was the problem.

After a week the check engine light went back on so I checked the coolant and it was just below min added more and made appointment with closest mechanic for diagnostic test. After they were done they said engine failure and Ford had no engines available to replace mine and that I should just buy a new car because this was a faulty engine and it will most likely cost $8000. I also called the Ford dealer where I purchased my car on 11/30/2014 and paid $30,927 CASH and asked if I was still covered under warranty which they replied, "no, it expired Nov 2020 sorry."

Boy do I feel RIPPED OFF!!! I've had so many recalls for other things on this car which I've had replaced - I also went in for maintenance as scheduled. The mechanic also assured me this was in no way my fault.

This is the same complaint it seems many Ford Fusion Eco boost 1.5 liter owners have and there is a class action lawsuit open in Delaware and California I believe.

The problems started in August 2020, when stopping the car, your could hear liquid sloshing around in the vehicle. My guess was that it must just be the gas in the gas tank making the sound. I never would have dreamed it could be coolant leaking into the cylinders.

My daughter added coolant to the car, as suggested by her boyfriend. Thank you by the way William. I have NEVER added coolant to any car I've owned in my 32 years of driving.

The engine light came on shortly after adding the coolant and the car engine was not running smoothly. We took it to a friend's car shop we trusted. They replaced the engine coil, spark plugs and oil. This cost about $550.00. The seemed to run better for a few months then the check engine light came on again.

We took it Ford and they confirmed the engine code we had read at AutoZone.

Code P0304 Verified concern EEC TEST P0304 present. Run OASIS TSB 20-2100 APPLIES PERFORM PRESSURE TEST FAILS DROPS 7 PSI REMOVE COLANT INTRUSION INTO CYLINDER 4 NEEDS SHORT BLOCK HEADGASKET REPLACEMENT

Estimated replacement cost for $6,500

This is not acceptable. If there is a defect in this engine then how will replacing mine fix the issue?

What are suggestions for next steps?

Thanks!!!!!

This is the second occurrence with the head gasket blowing out. Was told it would be a 7,000 dollar fix. Ford needs to recall these 1.5 Ecoboost motors. I live on Social Security and could not afford the monthly payments plus the cost of repairs so I had to let it go back to the bank. I had to take out one loan alrady for the first time I had the head gasket changed.

Was told the head gasket had blown. Then 8 months later in August of 2020 was told the block had to be changed in order to resolve the problem with the head gasket going out.

We have a 2015 Ford Fusion SE. We were the 2nd owner and purchased from a dealership. While driving the car it started sounding like fluid in the dashboard and the car started shaking. Then it started blowing out tons of white smoke out the tail pipe, then the check engine light came on. We pulled over, parked car. Let sit and cool down. There was oil, transmission fluid, and coolant in the car. We have done all oil changes and maintenance regularly. We had the car towed to the dealership.

After several days they came back stating it is a manufacturer defect and that basically the car sucked in coolant through the engine and was burning (reason for white smoke). It ruined the engine. The manufacturer warranty was over at 60k miles........we have 65k and Ford is refusing to cover the issue even though this is a defect that on their end. Also the intake manifold was replaced at 46k miles. How can Ford state that they are not responsible? We paid $16k for a car we have had barely over a year and now a pile of scrap metal.
