Engine died while driving around 35 mph. Restarted engine and was able to continue driving. Died another time while going about 15 mph in a parking lot. Took car to Ford dealer and they replaced the purge valve under my extended Warrenty. I was told it's a common problem.

Fusion SE 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 14,449 miles

With only 14,499 miles on my car, I should not have to worry about it dying on me. I already had to buy 4 new tires due to this vehicle not being driving much before I bought it so the tires were dry rotted. It had 1700 miles on it when I purchased it on 12/11/2018. Now when I am at a red light it dies and when I run the A/C it bogs down and dies. It has also died while going 30 MPH. Very dangerous for me and my family to be driving and not know when it is going to die. This should be covered as it is a safety hazard for everyone in my vehicle and other vehicles around me. Ford needs to do a recall and fix this issue.

The 2016 Ford Fusion we own at 104,000 miles the engine light came on. We were told it is a code P0302 and is the #2 cylinder misfiring. We were told this is a common problem with the engine and it is caused b coolant leaking into engine and eventually destroying the engine. Just three months before this problem we had the Ford Dealer so the 100,000 inspection on the car that cost $1000. New plugs etc and we were told nothing is wrong with the car. After the car was towed in the dealer told us $6500 for a new engine and they knew how to fix it because this is a common problem with this engine in the Fusion. The 2017 engine has been recalled for the same problem. Ford service has refused to do any thing for us to get the issue resolved. We did take out a Ford Motor Credit loan for 60 Months and we are still 8 months shy of paying off car and the engine is no good in the vehicle. Ford cars do not last as long as the financing. All service for this car has been completed at one Ford dealership.

My car has stalled 5 times in the past month. Ford Dealer in Gainseville could never get it to stall. Without indicators they said they couldn't do anything. Had to beg for a loaner/rental to get to work. Finally wrench light came on when it stalled, they replaced throttle. Had it back for a week then it stalled and engine light came on. Finally, replaced some emission valve. Hope it works. This is a 2 year old car, it shouldn't have any problems. I'll never lease from Ford again. My lease is up in February. I really don't feel safe in this car. I'll be buying a Toyota from a rental car company.

As with a previous report, I rented this car from Enterprise Rent a Car as my primary vehicle was in the shop due to hail damage. It happened to me three times in less than a day. First time, the alert message came on with the wrench and told me to check the owners manual (which was not in the rental vehicle) and the vehicle began to shake and act like it was dying. I pressed the accelerator and nothing happened. I turned it off for a few minutes and it started but the engine revved really fast and the check engine light stayed on. I drove to my location and the car sat for 5 hours. When I returned I turned it on and the light was off and it ran fine. I was then in highway traffic at 75 MPH when he alert message came back on and the car began to lose power. I was able to ease it to the shoulder and turned it off for two minutes. When I started it again it revved hard again but no check engine light came on this time. I was able to get home. As I drove it to the Enterprise Rent A Car in my home town this morning, it did it again.

Had a 2016 Ford Fusion from Budget Car Rental in Portland, ME. fifth day of the rental, going downhill out in the country, the accelerator stopped working, engine died. Luckily I was able to coast to a wide shoulder to stop. Car would not start; then would start but not accelerate. Finally could put it in drive and limp for 5 feet, then stopped. Big wrench logo. I pressed the OK button on the steering wheel after reading the manual. Then started it and it seemed to run fine. But the engine light was on. I made it home (40 miles). Next morning the engine light was out so I drove it about 30 miles and it happened again. This time I did the same thing and got it running. Returned home, called Budget, They towed it and I got another, but lost a day of vacation. This could be really dangerous!!

While driving to lunch today my 2016 Ford Fusion stalled while making a right hand turn and lost power. Check engine light with wrench lit up my dashboard. I was lucky enough to roll onto the shoulder and escaped a potential accident. I was able to restart the car and make it back to work. I called Haldeman Ford and they were aware of the problem - throttle body replacement. I appreciated their honesty and candor and they did a great job scheduling my car for service. Ford needs to acknowledge this is a very dangerous situation and thank goodness this didn't happen while entering the NJTP where cars are traveling at high speeds. Very dangerous situation!!!

Same issue as those before. Was driving, and suddenly the engine slowed, sputtered and jerked. RPMs revved but no acceleration. Check engine and wrench light popped on. I was going uphill so it came to a stop almost immediately.

Could have been bad. I was on a single lane up-ramp of an underground parking garage. Didn't roll backwards because I put it in park, but had several cars starting to line up behind me, and I had no idea of how to get it up and out. Luckily after turning it off, waiting, and turning it back on again, I was able to get some acceleration and get out. Made me nervous to drive it even a few miles to the dealership for a repair. They think it has something to do with the throttle.

Mine was bad, but I am more concerned about those who stall on the freeway or intersection. This could be really bad for someone. Ford needs to fix this before someone gets really hurt, or worse...

Fusion Titanium 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 44,210 miles

Purchased a 2016 Ford Fusion Titanium in July and would get the occasional RPM drop at red lights, Check Engine light came on September 30th and Driving this morning I had the car go into FULL POWER MODE and stop running. After reading posts today looks like I may be having the same issue everyone else is having with the Throttle Body.... Luckily I was on a road I could pull off, was less than 5 minutes from being on the Interstate.

Driving in car and all of sudden wrench and engine warning come on and acceleration loss. Luckily was able to pull over to side of road. Cut off car and try to crank and its shaking. Cut off and wait a few minutes and it cranks but engine warning on. Take car to dealership next day. Service check and say nothing's wrong with car light off. Only say car is fine don't see anything wrong with it. We checked it, but if warning light comes on with a red dot or keeps blinking bring it back because something may be wrong. I'm feeling very uneasy about this car.

Was driving this car as a rental from Enterprise while my car was being worked on in the shop. As I was driving home from work the car starts slowing down for no reason and the car starts shaking. I am on a major highway with lots of traffic. I press the accelerator, nothing happens, I push it down to the floor- nothing. My speed is now down to about 55 and everyone else is going 75+ MPH. I manage to work my way to the median of the highway and pull off, miraculously without dying. A giant wrench pops up on the screen and says the car needs to be worked on. I turn the car off, turn if back on and the engine shakes violently and the accelerator is still unresponsive. I turn the car off again and call roadside assistance. The lady I am talking to tells me this is a common problem with these cars and it probably just over-heated. This car is a brand new car with a little over 12,000 miles on it... I had to wait almost an hour for a tow truck to come and get me. The engine light came on so I know it was something to do with the engine, although I am not sure what it was specifically. Bottom line, do not buy this crappy car and avoid renting it like the plague. I have never had a car break down on me while I was driving before until this one. Scary experience, especially being on a crowded highway. The last thing you want to happen is for your car to break down, luckily I was able to safely pull off the road but others might not be as lucky.

Much like the others have mentioned, while driving my 2016 Ford Fusion, the car started to jerk and sputter. No power to accelerate. I was at a very busy intersection, while making a right turn the car would not move. The Check Engine and "wrench - see owners manual lights came on. I was finally able to slowly get the car over to the side of the road (while hearing many pissed off fellow motorist). I turned the car off and let it sit for several minutes. The same issue happened several times that day. I was finally able to "limp" my way home. This could have been a very dangerous situation for me as I was alone in the car with my 10 year old son. Although it died on me twice this morning, I was able to get it to the Ford dealership this morning. NOT HAPPY! I told the service writer that the car was too dangerous to drive.

I bought a NEW vehicle so I wouldn't have a stall at a light in rush hour traffic. It did! Matthews Ford has a service department that is Closed on weekends! Bring it back, July 6th! They have a tire and lube service that is 3rd party. Would not touch it with a ten foot pole. Service department is awesome if you just schedule your break-downs in advance!

HAD THE 2016 FORD FUSION FOR 4 MONTHS. DRIVING HOME SATURDAY, CAR SHOOK SLIGHTLY, A SMALL WRENCH SIGN CAME ON AND SAID TO CHECK MANUAL. AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND I CAN FEEL THE CAR WAS GOING TO TURN OFF. THANKFULLY WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO THE GAS STATION. TRIED TO TURN CAR ON AGAIN AND IT REVVED SUPER HIGH. CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK, FORD HAD IT FOR 3 FULL DAYS AND SAID THEY ARE REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON A HIGHWAY I WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD OR SERIOUSLY HURT. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID IT WAS THE SECOND TIME HE TOWED THE SAME CAR, YEAR WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT FORD ALSO TOLD ME SOMEONE JUST HAD SAME ISSUE TWO DAYS AGO AND STILL NO RECALL??? SOMEONE IS REALLY GOING TO GET VERY HURT WITH THIS CAR
