the problem with the pump failure was started by my daughter using our car and running it out of fuel. I suspect that she left the ignition on while the pump was not submerged in fuel causing the fuel pump to overheat and fail. We have never had any issues with our CRV and love it. I suspect that the pump was getting close to the end of its life for it to quit just by running it out of fuel. When I ordered the replacement pump (jobber) the parts men informed me that they sell a lot of fuel pumps for CRV's, they even had one in stock, which tells a story in itself. They are easy to change as access to the fuel tank is through the opening under the rear back seat.
