Two days ago I was in stop and go traffic with my foot on the brake getting ready to move as the traffic moved, when suddenly the car accelerated. I did not want to rear end the car in front of me and aimed for an opening between two rows of cars. I hit two cars and finally came to a stop when I ran into the guard rail. My car was totaled. I was dazed, confused and in shock and thought it was my fault at first. Now that I've had time to reflect, I decided to do some research and found that this incident happened before and I was not at fault.

I have already replaced the brakes and rotors - with lifetime brakes. now with inspection, now I am told the brakes and rotors are shot and so are the calibers! only two years after the brake and rotor replacement! I have complained about the burning smell ever since the day I bought this vehicle, back in 2010. the dealership told me this vehicle was known to smell hot and that its my catalytic converter and that is not an issue...Now i have to replace brakes, rotors and calibers! It has always felt as if it was hanging up until about 3 months ago, when I have had the best gas mileage ever! It was typically about 24.9 until this summer when I actually got 30.5! To now find out my" brakes, rotors and calibers are shot" as stated by my mechanic. I have had a 99 honda civic and love it for 13 years now over 200K miles on it and i am keeping it til it dies... Best car I've ever owned, but this one 2007 CRV will definitely go to trade in.. I will not keep it as it is the worst vehicle I've ever owned for what I paid for it.

This problem started from day one and when I told the Honda dealer about it they offered to do a brake job that one I would have to pay for and that two I don't think would have solved the problem since I think it's a computer glitch. The car hard brakes itself when going down a steep hill and the brake is hit more than once at a close interval. My foot is already off the brake and the car is continuing to brake as though my foot is pushing down harder on it. It only seems to happen in this specific scenario.

Got the brakes fixed and the technician went to great lengths to explain the quality of staying wiht OEM Honda parts ... so the bill was $1000. A week later i smell burning brake pads when my wife comes home and voila both rear calipers are locked up ... the technician tells me that there is NO WAY a service rep would have missed that during his inspection and that they calipers just both failed ... uh huh.

So an additional $500 for 2 rebuilt (new would be $1000) calipers ... off to a new mechanic for some non Honda parts which will perform better hopefully!!!

Bought Honda crv FEB 2010 on 2007 plate - Noticed brake pedal very soft under normal braking and travelled to floor under heavy braking. Has been back to Honda several times where they say this is perfectly normal for this vehicle. Have test driven several models of same age and all have the same characteristics.

I feel let down by Honda as no other vehicle I have driven has had a braking error like this and especially since they have recalled similar vehicles in the USA for the same fault.
