Oil light came on around 55,000 miles and I needed to add 2-3 quarts of oil. Problem persisted. Brought it to the dealer 8x between 60,436- 95,917 while it was under extended warranty for oil consumptions tests. Honda said that it was within spec and there was nothing they could do to look into the problem further. I continue to need to add at least 3 quarts of oil between oil changes.

CR-V EX-L 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 44,000 miles

Car was purchased new in September of 2016. Since November of 2019 continuing to the present, the car has been losing about a quart of oil every 1500 miles. It has had two oil consumption tests to date. Honda refuses to fix, indicating that any oil loss less than a quart per 1000 miles is within industry standards. Nothing in owner's manual provides notice to consumer of such potential oil loss. Moreover, oil life monitor on dashboard is inconsistent with Honda's claim of an "industry standard" since it advises to change oil only after every 8000 miles.

I have asked Honda for any published industry standards upon which it relies, but have not received any documentation. For the past 15 months I have been required to bring the car in for oil checks and changes every 1500 miles. I know that there have been class action suits against Honda in the past for oil consumption problems on other models and/or model years. I am looking for solutions.
