CarComplaints.com Notes: An increasing number of Toyotas are experiencing excessive oil consumption and the 2007 Camry seems to be leading the charge.

Owners are reporting that their engines are deprived of oil halfway through their maintenance schedules and in some cases the damage is so bad that entirely new engines need to be installed, paid out of pocket. The issue may be a result of defective piston rings.

Toyota has issued a TSB for this problem, but maintains their stance that vehicles equipped with a 2AZ-FE engine are burning through a “normal” amount of oil.

Camry CE 2.4L V6

I only had just bought 2007 Toyota Camry CE on 5/13/19 off a lot. Less than 24 hours later, I am on my way home from my dads and (ABS) LIGHT starts coming on & off, then it stayed on then off and repeated. All the needles in the cluster board started going haywire & I started panicking. This is B.S. that such a pretty car with only 77,000 miles messes up SO -SO bad that I started hyperventilating. I really thought I was going to die or something... as this is but a "mere" fraction of what happened with my Camry all at the same time. Will be posting each issue separately as instructed!!

Camry SE 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 186,000 miles

ABS light and brake always on, Speedo and tach go nutz. All other gauges quit. Toyota public relations suck as they are rude and expensive. Their quote is ridiculous got another from a Toyota repair only shop for cheaper but still very expensive. Should be a recall and we all should start a class action legal demand of repair on this. Not safe at all and Toyota brags about their customer service and safety, They all should be fired on this one

Camry LE 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 125,000 miles

My ABS system went out in 2013 around 125,000 miles. All the controls on the dashboard would die all of a sudden so I had no idea of my speed, etc. and was worried the car would turn off while I was drivining it. They said they had to replace it which cost like $2,300 + $800 trying to diagnose the problem. This has to be a recall issue. I want to be re-reimbursed for my costs. My family are all big Toyota owners but this has made me more cynical towards Toyota and more reluctant to recommend them to others.
