CarComplaints.com Notes: Owners are reporting that their engines are running out of oil awfully quick. As in, 1 quart every 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains that’s with the “normal” operating range of the 2AZ-FE while owners maintain that’s complete BS.

The issue may be the result of defective piston rings.

My wife's 2008 Toyota Camry's sun visor has broken under normal use. The visor just flops down, impairing vision while driving; the visor had to be taken down, this should not happen on a car with only 48,000 miles. This happened about August 23, 2012. This is a safety issue, and should be replaced by Toyota for free, not $200+ dollars. I will not pay the dealer fee, so the problem still has not been fixed.

My visor on the drivers side will not stay in the up position or down against towards the windshield blocking the sun. It seems to be defective. I called Toyota to see how much it cost to replace the part. I was advised $148 for the part. However the previous owner had also had this visor replaced prior to me purchasing the vehicle. This seems to be a big deal with alot of the Toyota visors, but yet there is no recall on this item. I would like to have this issue fixed and not at my expense as this is a safety concern. If you put the visor in the up position against the top of the car, it will continue to fall down in front of my view. If you push it forward towards the window it again will come back towards me. If I were to get into an accident, it is right at my head level and could cause severe injury.

Last year my passenger side visor went down with no apparent reason. I didn't think about it much, I thought it was a passenger pulled it down too hard, and I replaced it with a used visor from ebay. Last week, my driver side visor broke and went down, so now I have no visor which creates a safety issue. I started looking online about this issue, and I see a lot of people complaining about this. This is definitely a design/manufacturing flaw from Toyota, but I see no recall. I went to the local Toyota dealership yesterday to see what they can do. They almost fixed the issue with no cost, but they said they couldn't order a new one until Toyota issues the recall. Now I have to wait months before they send me a letter.

Sun visor broke with only 35500 miles on the car. Driving East to work and West home is seriously dangerous without this visor, which was used under normal conditions (flipped down in the morning, up when parked and flipped down again in the evening). It's dangerous enough driving through 2 construction zones in the morning, but now I have to use one hand to shield my eyes due to the grades I drive and location of sun in the sky. This impedes my driving. I found the broken visor hanging useless after work on day and couldn't tape or rig it up so had to pull it off in order to see out the windshield! what would have happened if this broke during rush hour in construction? please do something about this problem. Seems like a simple quality issue that should be fixed or recalled due to potentially dangerous driving situation. Plus it's a $32,000 car and quality should be better than that of a $12,000 car.

Both the left and right sun visor failed. The left sun visor fell in such a position as to block the driver's vision. I had to drive home from work holding the sunvisor up and have now taped it in the up position to prevent it from falling down again. I also had to tape the right sun visor in the up position so as not to block my field of view.

Driver side visor broke. The visor's suspension no longer holds visor up and its affecting visibility while driving. Customer service was contacted but they refused to take care of it and want to charge $120 to fix it. There are several complaints through out the internet of unhappy customers who are experiencing the same thing. It's unfair that owners are expected to pay for a part that should obviously be recalled. Toyota won't accept responsibility and refuses to acknowledge this problem. Models 07, 08 and 09 seem to be the ones affected. This is a major safety issue and should be consider as such. I shouldn't have to worry about something blocking my vision while driving.

Sunvisor has lost all tension and just hangs straight down interfering with visibility on driver's side. Toyota will not assume responsibility when I called and discussed it with them at their customer service center although I have read this is a fairly common problem with Camry 2008. Had to remove sunvisor.
