FUEL SYSTEM FAILURE:

around 105,000 miles the fuel pump filter began to generate a noise. its actually fairly noticeable if you pay a little bit of attention. This is just a warning that the fuel pump filter has become clogged from build up and needs to be replaced. that was easy enough the fuel pump filter is located on the passenger side near the rear wheel, on the cabriolet model has 3 tubes protruding, 2 on one side 1 on the other. disconnect these after lifting the car up to a level height, put in place new filter, MAKE SURE IT HAS THE THREE TUBES NOT TWO. auto parts stores WILL carry both, although some only carry the more normal two tube filter. After changing this the car worked like a dream for a day until after returning home. i found that the Fuel pump had failed. most likely due to the force of pumping oil through the clogged filter then suddenly having a clean one, the fuel pump is accessible through the trunk in the cabriolet. and in sedan and wagon models through the passenger side rear seat underneath. YOU must clean the surrounding area of dirt dust and any other contaminants that could get into your fuel tank when changing the pump as it could damage your car further and require a new tank entirely. disconnect the correct leads and swap out the pump, its fairly simple, please do avoid smoking or other flammable activities or items as you have as fumes in your face during this. you can pick up the fuel filter for ( the correct one is generally) $13-16, and the corresponding fuel pump itself can be picked up for anywhere from $65 -124 depending on your source. ( i believe 124 was from o'reillys, ECS tuning had a cheaper performance pump that i ordered).

My car is now at 109,000 miles and driving better. I'm receiving better fuel efficiency and power from the car. now to fix the coolant leak.
