My wife and son have complained about the steering getting more and more difficult to steer the car and making funny noises. On Tuesday, April 30, 2013, my son was driving to school for football practice and he said the steering just stopped working and his friend had to help him turn the corner and almost had a wreck. When I went to get the car (I don't drive it), it was like there was no power steering fluid in it. I checked the fluid level, there was none. I put some in and checked under the vehicle, power steering fluid was pouring out on the driver's side of the vehicle. I thought it was a busted hose. Took to the shop, they put it up on the rack and said it was the rack and pinion and not a hose. He also said that he has worked on several Buick Lacrosse's with that type of problem. After I got home on the internet, researched problems with Buick Lacrosse and noticed several recalls on Buick vehicles that are from the same type of platform as the Buick Lacrosse. One of the recalls listed was the same problem our Buick Lacrosse has. Why is there not a recall on Buick Lacrosse? This is a definite safety concern and should be addressed by the NHTSA and Buick (GM) should assume the costs for the repairs. I am quite sure they have been aware of the problem and choose to ignore it. Sooner or later, someone is going to get killed from that problem. But, I guess that is what actuaries (bean counters) are for to tell them is is more cost effective to ignore the problem versus coming clean and fixing what needs to be fixed. I WILL NEVER BUY A GENERAL MOTORS VEHICLE AGAIN!!! NEVER! They wonder why the foreign imports are out selling American made vehicles. They could use that bail out money "we" gave them and fix the problem. Enough said.
