I reported it promptly on January 21, 2016 to an extremely gracious woman named elizabeth, and was given the service request number. An inspection of my vehicle would occur I was told. I was just now told on the phone that because I made a claim to my insurance company, that GM / Buick considers the matter closed. In what world does that make sense"?? I am now faced with the need to purchase another vehicle which I can ill afford. Even with the insurance settlement, I will incur debt that that was not in my plans and will be extremely difficult to arrange. Besides the money, is there no consideration to the turmoil this has caused. Have you ever watched your car go up in flames? have you ever had to tell your spouse that the vehicle she has meticulously cared for so long just burned to a crisp" the fire occurred in my workplace parking lot and was put out by our local volunteer fire dept. I have gone to great lengths to make sure that my insurance company was aware that the car needed to be inspected by GM to insure that that the fire was related to the recall issue. I understand that perfectly. I also communicated to GM where the vehicle was being towed to and provided names and phone numbers. In following up I was now told that nothing was done and nothing is to be done!
