When I got off work, started my car, I noticed a message I had never seen before. "Battery = Not Charging"

I paused, checked my voltage and continued to drive home -- I made three stops and it started each time -- I notice my voltage was going down from 14.0 to 13.4 to 12.9 . . . I finally went home and backed my car in the driveway -- I tried to start it an hour later, and it would not start --. I may need a new battery, a new alternator or the cables may be loose -- i don't know, but I will have to wait until payday to even deal with it. Just never saw that message before . . . Battery Not Charging . . .
