I am a collision estimator and had repaired a 2016 Cadillac CTS which included replacing the front bumper, left headlight assembly, left daytime running light assembly, left front fender and performed a 4 wheel alignment. As standard operating procedure we test drive all vehicle repaired in our shop to verify repairs and noticed a bad vibration while sitting still in gear and got worse with low speed parking lot maneuvers. The body vibration felt a lot like a 2009- present Honda Civic or Accord with a broken engine mount. After verifying that our repairs were not the cause of this condition we put the vehicle on our lift for further inspection. After comparing with another 2016 Cadillac CTS we found that the mount tabs (that are part of the front engine cradle) for the engine cradle cross bar (GM part# 23446918) were bent causing the cross bar it self to rub against the exhaust causing the body vibration. A simple pair of channel lock pliers were used to bend the mount tabs back into their proper position. You should have approximately 3/4 to 1 inch of clearance between the cross bar and any other components including the exhaust. Test drove and verified that the issue was 100% corrected. This will be an ongoing issue with all of these vehicles if they are bottomed out during normal driving conditions i.e. speed bumps or dips or steep driveways.
