Automobile ran a red light and collided with the driver's side of my car. Considerable damage was done to my car. The side air bags failed to deploy so I was thrown against the door with injury to my head, neck, shoulders, and lower back in the vicinity of my kidney.
Yesterday, Nov. 22, I had a front end collision which resulted in my car being totalled. At the moment of impact the air bag on the passenger side deployed and inflated, but the air bag on the driver's side deployed but did not inflate. The car was a 1999 Cadillac Deville sedan with 65,000 miles on it.
Vehicle was involved in a driver side impact collision. Upon impact, side air bags failed to deploy. Upon inspection of the vehicle by the insurance company they noticed that the side air was disconnected and duck taped. Prior to this incident vehicle was taken into a dealership to have the side impact sensor module recall 00V228000 repairs performed. Dealership never performed repairs, but indicated he did so.
The manufacturer sent a recall (00V-217) letter to the dealer prior to the sale of the vehicle, but the dealer informed the consumer eight months after the sale. Consumer's neighbor wrote in about his Lincoln.

Received recall notice 00V217000 for side impact sensor module. Contacted dealership for an appointment. Recall was repaired, but problem still exists. Vehicle towed 4 times since recall repairs.
Recall 00 V 217 000/ air bag side impact sensor module: Unable to get dealer michael hohl GMC; carson city, nv; phone# 775/883-5777 to honor manufacturer's recall. Dealer was contacted on several occasions, and still was unable to get recall resolved. Seeking help from NHTSA in this matter.
Consumer states air bag warning light came on, he immediately took vehicle in to be inspected and was advised by dealership there was nothing wrong, according to the service manager they reset an indicator to solve the problem, then on 04/13/01 while driving on expressway, the driver's side air bag deployed without warning, causing consumer to lose control of vehicle and swerve into another lane erratically, consumer is requesting that every air bag be re-certified or replaced and a complete safety inspection.
Received recall notice 00V217000 in September. Contacted dealership off/on since September. Each time was informed no parts available for side air bag sensor. Spoke to sharon collins at manufacturer, and informed would contact shipper about delivery, and then, would notify owner.
Consumer recieved recall notice 00V-217 concerning inadvertent side air bag deployment, Cadillac has to redesign the total air bag system which is going to take a considerable amount of time, between 4-8 months. Nlm
Consumer received recall 00V217, consumer feels the repair should be done as soon as possible, consumer is also upset that he has been told to go ahead and drive the car knowing the air bag could deploy at any time.
Consumer wants the air bags disconnected until remedy for this possible air bag deployment stated in recall (00V-217) is found for the driver and passenger side door air bags. Nlm
I struck a truck tire tread which slapped the door on the driver's side.there was slight damage to the sheet metal below the trim on the door. The side airbag deployed, striking me on the arm. I was surprised that the airbag had deployed with such small damage to the door. I reported the incident to the Louisiana state police. Troop "B" out of new orleans filed the incident report. Consumer received recall#00V217000/ side air bags. On sept27,2000. Dealer and manufacturer stated there was no remedy available until April 2001. Consumer is very upset. Also, states that manufacturer is not assisting. In the meantime, dealer will not deactivate, and is driving an unsafe vehicle.

When vehicle was involved in a crash, mainly being hit between the driver's and passenger's side door, by a tow truck traveling about 55 mph, air bag on the driver's side did not deploy. Vehicle and tow truck were totalled in the crash.
